Keeping Symmetry with Scissor & Sew Tool / Reapply Symmetry with Mirror Breaks

Evren Resim

Hello Support Team,

Is there a way to ensure "mirror" is not broken when we use the "scissor" or "scissor and sew" feature on a pattern? I need to cut and sew the pattern and have those cuts/sewing mirror the other side while keeping symmetry. It seems to automatically break symmetry, and I cannot seem to reapply symmetry once broken. It would be a lot of work to delete the broken mirrored side and re-mirror, since once duplicated the pattern arrangement is reset.

If there are no options, here are the feature requests:

  • When using “scissor” or “scissor and sew” features, ensure that mirror symmetry is not broken. If the pattern is mirrored, it would help speed up the process by mimicking the other side to have it cut/sewn in symmetry. We can always break the symmetry, but we currently cannot reapply symmetry once broken, so maintaining symmetry is crucial.
  • Have the option to reapply symmetry to patterns that have issued “break mirror,” or the option to apply symmetry with two existing duplicate/identical patterns. That way if symmetry is broken by accident, there is a way to reapply without having to recreate, rearrange, and re-sew the mirrored patterns.

Thanks very much.

    Hi Evren,

We are sorry that we do not have the feature you are suggesting.

For now, we recommend that you use "mirror" after you complete patterns on one side.

We appreciate your share your ideas for this feature and will plan to add this as soon as possible!

    Thank you.
