Tack/Pin

  • Updated

Overview

Tack/Pin is a function for fixing a point on the surface.

You can use Tack to attach the surface or an avatar, and Pin to attach the surface in the air.

Operation Method

Tack

  1. Click Menu > Edit > Tack to change the mouse cursor to tack mode.

  2. Click on a location on the surface to create one side of the tack.

  3. Click the location where the tack was made earlier to create another tack on the opposite side to make a pair.

※Note: The order of 2 and 3 is irrelevant. However, it must be composed of pairs of surface–surface or surface–avatar.

  4. You can check the pair of connected tacks by selecting them in Pin/Tack selection mode.

After running the simulation, you can figure out how far apart the tacks are.

Pin

  1. Click Menu > Edit > Pin (P) to change the mouse cursor to pin mode.

  2. Click on a location on the surface to create a pin.

  3. You can fix the exact location of pins when running the simulation.

Components

Tack

Two tacks make up a pair, so options applied to one tack will automatically apply to the other tack.

  • Distance

This value is for adjusting the distance between a pair of tacks.

  • Strength

This value is for setting how strongly tacks are attached.

The higher the value, the better it maintains distance and is less affected by external impacts or physical properties. The lower the value, the weaker it becomes as it is far away from the set distance.

  • Enable

This function is for enabling/disabling tack.

  • Show in 3D View

This function is for hiding the orange sphere that displays tack in the 3D view.

  • Hold position

Maintains the relative angle and distance between the two tacked points throughout the simulation. Useful for preserving specific spatial relationships.

  • Align perpendicular

Forces the two selected points to remain perpendicular to each other on the surface.

Pin

  • Enable

This function is for enabling/disabling the pin.

  • Show in 3D View

This function is for hiding the green sphere that displays the pin in 3D view.
