Overview
DXF (2D pattern) Import/Export is a function that loads DXF files to save pattern information.
Location
Menu > File > Import > DXF
Menu > File > Export > DXF
Operation Method
Import DXF
- Click File from the top menu bar.
- Click Import and select the DXF file.
- In the Import window, select the unit size and seam allowance that fits the DXF file, then click OK to load the file.
- The imported pattern will appear on the 2D screen.
Import Grading (RUL)
- Put the DXF and RUL (grading data) files on the same path.
- Click File in the top menu bar.
- Click Import and select the DXF file.
- Select the format, unit, and seam allowance in the Import window that fits the DXF file.
Activate the Import grading option and select the size you want to import.
(Base size is always imported)
- Click OK to load the file.
- The imported pattern will appear on the 2D screen.
Export DXF
- Click File from the top menu bar.
- Click Export and select the file format to be converted.
- Select what data to include in the Export window.
- Select the path to save.
- The exported file will be saved in the set path.
Components
DXF Import option
Format
This function sets the dxf format type when importing. If the dxf is unknown file format when importing, it could be imported as the OTHER format.
*Adobe Illustrator can be imported as the OTHER format.
Unit
This function sets up the unit to load the DXF pattern. As each unit size produced in the DXF files is different, check the information box for the correct size.
Seam Allowance
This function handles the seam allowance while importing DXF.
Users can control its view options in the Main menu> Preference> DXF . When the option is turned off, it will not appear in the 2D view.
Include seam allowance
This option loads the seam allowance and sets the cut line as the outline.
Replace seam allowance with outlines
This option loads the seam allowance as the outline.
Exclude seam allowance
This option ignores the seam allowance and loads the cut line as the outline.
Curve smoothing
This feature smooths out angular areas to a more rounded shape. The turned points show as normal points, and the curve points show as smooth points.
Notch
This option decides whether to load or not the notch.
Users can control DXF view options in the Main menu> Preference> DXF. When the option is turned off, it will not appear in the 2D view.
Fitting curve
This function optimizes the curve to fit the curve shape.
Importing grading
This option decides whether to read the grading data or not.
DXF Export Option
- Basic option
Export only selected patterns
Export selected patterns only to DXF, and ignore unselected patterns.
Include grainline
Export DXF including grainline
Include stitches as lines
Export DXF including stitches as inner curves
- Advanced option
Include point data
Export DXF including point information
Include pattern name
Export DXF including pattern name
Curve tolerance (cm)
Curve tolerance determines how detailed curves are when exporting to DXF, allowing smoother curves to be represented with fewer points for a result. The higher the value, the fewer points are generated.
