Shirring

  • Updated

Overview

Express shirring by reducing the mesh size of specific areas of the pattern.

Location

Inner Curve > Side Panel > Properties Tab > Curve Properties > Shirring

Outline Curve > Side Panel > Properties Tab > Curve Properties > Shirring

Operation Method

Inner Curve Shirring

  1. Select the inner curve in Curves/Points Selection Mode.
  2. In UI Panel > Properties > Inner Curve Properties > Shirring, enable the checkbox and adjust the value as desired.
  3. Check the reduced mesh size through 3D Viewing Toolbar > Wireframe.
  4. To apply elasticity to the shirring, activate Elastic and adjust the Ratio value.
  5. Simulate to check whether the inner curve with elasticity applied shrinks in the 3D view.

Outline Shirring

  1. Select the outline curve in Curves/Points Selection Mode.
  2. In UI Panel > Properties > Curve Properties > Shirring, enable the checkbox and adjust the value as desired.
  3. Check the reduced mesh size through 3D Viewing Toolbar > Wireframe.
  4. To apply elasticity to the shirring, activate Elastic and adjust the Ratio value.
  5. Simulate to check whether the outline with elasticity applied shrinks in the 3D view.

Note : If you want to elasticity to the shirring, activate elastic and adjust the ratio.

Components

width

This function creates offsets on both sides centered on the inner curve to control the thick of the shirring mesh.

For example, if you enter 2.5 cm for width, an offset of 2.5 cm will be created on each side of the inner curve, resulting in a total shirring thick of 5 cm.

For example, if you enter 1.0 cm for Density, the mesh size within the offset area defined by width will be reduced to 1.0 cm.
